To the O'Doherty Family,
Vincent was creative, bold, inclusive and so, so fair. I had the privilege of working with him in the Chamber. I learned so much from his example and encouregment. Vincent's was a life very well lived.

Fionnuala,
I have only recently heard of the very sad news of Vincent's death so apologies for not getting in touch before now.
Just like so many of the tributes already posted my experience of Vincent was of a man of outstanding character and integrity. Indeed he was someone with great insight. intelligence and wit. His own tribute to Feargal at his funeral was typical of the man. In a way he was the perfect foil to the exuberant enthusiasm of Feargal and brought a cool and steady hand to the tiller especially when times were tough.
He enjoyed a good laugh and a good wine! I believe he was a Francophile when it came to wine and always showed great interest in that aspect of Superquinn's great venture and which was my special area.
I know nothing can really adequately help you in these sad days Fionnuala, I lost my wife Phyllis 30 years ago and it still shakes me when I recollect our happy times. But you have the unending compensation of remembering a good man, an honest man, a decent man.
My sincere best wishes - Michael Donlon, (Formerly Superquinn Wine Buyer).

Sincere condolences to Fionnuala and all the family on Vincent's passing, from all of the Clarke family who were your neighbours for so many years during the time we both lived on Palmerston Road. Dear Fionnuala, I was so sad to hear about Vincent's passing. It was always such a pleasure to meet him, mostly at Chamber or cultural events. I remember in particular our frequent encounters at the Dublin Theatre Festival and long chats critiquing the various shows. May he rest in peace. With profound sympathy. Mary

It was with deep regret that we learned of the passing of Vincent whose presence at the MacGill School in Glenties we always looked forward to and appreciated. He was passionate about the School and his interventions there were always so relevant and so wise. He was a man of culture and refinement and always accessible, understanding and interested in every point of view. Those who got to know him in Glenties thought the world of him.
It was a real pleasure and honour to have known him and we send our condolences to his wife, Fionnuala and his family. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam dilis.

We were saddened to learn of Vincent's death and our deep sympathies to you all.
He was a remarkable man who wore lightly the achievements of his outstanding career in business. He had a wide range of interests and pursued those with remarkable vigour - including his regular attendance and engagement with other attendees and speakers at the MacGill Summer School and indeed his substantial practical support for that important forum. MacGill was not the only beneficiary of his talents as he was involved in and supported many cultural activities and organisations. I was particularly fortunate to have joined his History Circle where we benefited from his erudition, his wide historical perspectives and incisive commentaries.
He will be greatly missed.

To all the O'Doherty Family - I was so saddened to hear of Vincent's passing . Both my father, Paddy, and I knew him from the Compagnons of Bordeaux where he was a longstanding member. Such a kind, charming and interesting man who loved his wine but was always modest in his opinion despite his remarkable knowledge. His presence shall be be greatly missed.
