He was a great neighbour and we will miss the chats in the driveway and the lovely way in which he greeted our crazy dog daily. We will miss looking out the window and seeing him well dressed and dapper as he walked the dogs. Our loss is nothing compared to yours but know that you are in our thoughts and will continue to be.

So sorry to hear of Uncle Vincent's passing ...I will always remember him through music ......thinking of you all and sending our love.

To Winnie, Eimear, Cormac, Dermot and all the extended Whelan family, I am thinking of you all at this sad time. I will have so many treasured memories of singing with Vincent as part of Cappella choir. A man with music coursing through his veins, he has passed on his love and enthusiasm for choral music to us all.

Heartfelt sympathy to Winnie, Cormac, Dermot & Eimear and of course to Josh and Oscar, Nicola and Zoe. Obviously I wish I could have been there. My earliest memories of Vincent are of someone who could make our mother laugh even when she was upset. Even in recent years his conversations were unfailingly cheerful and upbeat. I was speaking with our English cousins recently and Kim's memory of Vincent was that at Gerard's wedding he took the time to take her, a nine-year-old who was a bit lost, on the dance floor and give her a happy time. I remember our lunch at the Shelbourne the last time we were home in 2018, and wish there could have been a lot more of them.

It was with great sadness I learned of Vincent's death, my sincere condolences to Winnie, Eimear, Cormac, Dermot and the extended Whelan family. As a member of Capella I benefitted from Vincent's love and understanding of music, His ability to communicate the importance of each note, breath and phrase was second to none, he wanted perfection and we did everything in our power to do him proud. I am privileged to have known and sung with Vincent and will remember forever all he so willingly shared.. Rest in peace Vincent.

My sincere condolences to Winnie and all the family. Vincent was extremely generous in bringing the Capella Choir to our church in Rathfarnham several times from 2008. (I was chairman of the Pastoral Council at the time). May Vincent and his conductor's baton continue to make music with the heavenly choirs.

You returned to us when we were blue, perplexed not knowing what to do, and turned our struggling choir around, restoring to us our 'Rockmount sound'. No words can thank you for your skill, your expertise, your iron will, to bring about that ' perfect blend and hear our voices to Heaven ascend. For those of us who knew you long and learned from you our love of song, we thank you for the joy we knew in being part of 'Vincent's Crew'. It was a privilege to have known Vincent as part of Cappella choir. He was a true gentleman & excellent teacher. He taught us all so much & his dedication, passion & energy for the choir was so evident.

Thank you Vincent for everything you did for Cappella choir & for music overall. Your attention to detail & practical advice on how to sing better stood us well. I will always remember the Cappella performance at my wedding & all your efforts for it. I’ll miss you saying “sing like Cappella”
