Wenda Edwards

It is with great sadness that I have just learned of Wenda's passing. She was an amazing woman and role model. I had the pleasure of working alongside her on The Board of Management of Womens Aid and being instrumental in building the First Purpose Built Womens Refuge in Europe.We both went on to work there and she taught me everything I know. Her selflessness, huge heart ,sense of justice and her constant efforts for change in the area of Domestic Violence has had a huge impact on so many women and childrens lives. Her main goal was to empower people through self help and mutual aid.
She was a real champion for the poor and marginalised.
The world is a much poorer place without her.

We were so very saddened to hear of Wenda's recent passing, having such joyful memories of time we spent together over the years in Dublin, Kilkenny & Brighton. A gentle, elegant, generous and beautiful soul, the world was a richer place for Wenda's presence. The care, help, encouragement, joy and beauty she brought to so many lives was inspiring. May she rest now and look over all those she loved and who loved her.

Deepest sympathy to Wenda’s family on the loss of this wonderful woman. She worked courageously and tenaciously for women experiencing domestic violence, against homelessness, and for many other social justice causes. She was also a great neighbour to my late sister Anne and to Derek. She will be missed.

The wonderful Wenda. What an inspiring woman. As a young child when I met her I was always greeted by Wenda‘a huge smile , her beautiful hair and incredible warmth. What a lady, who has done so much for others with her generosity and kindness. You will be sadly missed Wenda. With much love to Dave, Mary and Mick, Ellie and all of the people who’s lives have been enriched by this wonderful lady , I send my sincere condolences.
