I was saddened to learn today of Will's untimely passing. I studied with Will in UCC many years ago. My memories are of a good-natured, kind and helpful person who was admired by all who knew him. My condolences to Patricia and to all Will's family and friends.

My sincere condolences to Will’s wife, Patricia, his family, friends and colleagues in UCC on his sad and untimely passing. I am truly saddened to hear of Will’s death. Our paths crossed for just the ‘blink of an eye’ during my studies in UCC, but Will’s impact on my life has far exceeded that timeframe and will live on. I will be forever grateful to him for sharing his wonderfully mischievous sense of humour, his genuine kindness, unflagging encouragement and inspiration, capacity to really listen and his very human, as well as academic, wisdom – all of which combined to create Will’s very special ‘recipe’ for teaching planning. My most lasting memories of Will were often small moments in the big scheme of things – but they will always stay with me and they always bring a smile to my face. I hope that knowing the way in which he touched so many people’s lives for the better will bring some comfort to you at such a sad time. Rest in peace, Will.

So sorry to hear about Will's death. I worked with Will as external examiner in UCC for a number of years. He was a committed educator, passionate about his work and students and really good company. Will won't be forgotten.
