Dad my life is like a blank canvas no colour no words to say the hurt I am feeling just silence and I guess that’s the way it will be for a long time. I’m so glad I got to have a father and son talk just the two of us, I have told you that I love you until the words have echoed around this world of ours, I have held your hand as I talked to you trying not to show you my tears but you know me too well as you turned and looked right at me and with that wonderful smile said I love you. Those words you have told me a million times for we were never afraid to say I love you to one another but they mean’t so much maybe I knew deep inside it would be our last time for you and me. If I knew my last goodbye was our last I would never have said it but you knew and you let me leave knowing you have seen your last sunrise but you didn’t want me to know for that’s you Dad always thinking of me. I will play your songs forever and remember you with love in my heart I may have let go of your hand but I know you will always hold my heart. Grandad, I know you were absolutely heartbroken after losing your soulmate on the 2nd January 2021. Your love for Nanny was nothing that I had seen before. I am absolutely heartbroken and devastated that you are no longer here Grandad. I will miss going home to Ireland and seeing you and Nanny holding hands, telling each other how much you love each other and seeing you both be in awe of each other. The love you and Nanny had was so special & rare, nothing could top it. I always say if I don’t feel a love like yours then I don’t want it. I will miss your singing and dancing and seeing your excited faces as Mum and I walked through the front door. Grandad, you were and always will be a true gentleman, you are one of a kind, I’ve never met anyone else like you, you have a heart of gold.
