I have served with Billy in the army band for more years than I'd like to count. He was highly intelligent, motivated and complete joker. He guided us through our early years in the southern command band with humour, respect and patience. He had a natural management style which moulded us all in to who we are today. After Billy retired, he was still the person I turned to when I needed advice. Billy has left a legacy in the defence forces that people can only aspire to.
