I only now discovered the fact that Bill was the man I had the honour and pleasure to work with in Bord na Mona in the years 1972 to 1978.
He was a great mentor during my early career. I learned much from Bill including the importance of integrity and empathy.
A very clever and magnanimous colleague who left a lasting impression for the good.
May he rest in peace.
I have geniuinly extremely positive memories of Bill.
To Bill's family my deepest sympathy and condolences.

Mairéad, a chara,
My brothers and I were saddened to hear that Bill had died. He was a genuinely good soul, a kind neighbour, and a wonderful friend to our late father, Dannie. We really appreciated how Bill helped to keep Dad connected with the 10 o'clock Mass goers in Donnycarney. That contact and the banter, especially about Waterford GAA, were the little gems that made Dad's day. Our thanks go to you, Mairéad, and the rest of your family for supporting Bill. May you find solace in knowing that he had a good life, very well lived. Go raibh leaba aige i measc na naomh.

Sending sincerest condolences to the Foley Family at this very sad time, your father has held a very special place in our home for many years (he never knew this), very supportive in the late 70/80’s to our family when difficult times landed on us, always a complete gent, so discreet and private as he knew our situation didn’t sit well with us. when you would try to give feedback/thanks he was so modest and would just bat it away. We passed this difficult phase thankfully and all went on to do well but have never forgotten Mr Foley‘s kindness and the amazing contribution from the SVP. THANK YOU Foley family for sharing your amazing Dad with the wider community, he really made such a difference. RIP MR Foley, sleep tight and again sincere thanks for making such a difference in many peoples lives, Ní maith liom do thrioblóid

I am so sorry to hear of Bill's death and my sympathy goes to the Foley family on their great loss. May he rest in peace. I first met Bill in 1980 when I joined Bord na Mona Baggot St. in the Insurance section, working with Sean Kelly. We reported to Bill and he was always supportive and encouraging. I will miss the occasional visits to Bill in Killester when we would reminisce on those good days and of course talk about the fortunes of Arenal FC, who we both supported. And Bill, they won yesterday !
Deepest sympathies to Tadhg,Liz,Meghan, Caoimhe, Billy ,Shannon and all the Foley family.Thinking of you all at this sad time.
I was so very sorry to hear of Bills passing. I worked with both Bill and Nora in Bord na Mona many years ago. I really liked both of them and Bill was such good fun to be around. We always exchanged Christmas cards each year and I have only the fondest memories of them both. Please accept my deepest sympathies at this very difficult time. Losing a parent Is never easy but I hope your memories of Bill are a comfort as he rejoins Nora. May they rest in peace.
