William (Bill) Kavanagh

My condolences to Liam Mary Linda & Rose on the sad passing of Bill. As a young recruit from Templemore Bumptas became a great place to have your meals at any time of the day or night. Bill told me he made the best chips in Arklow.

Sincere condolences to all the family at this sad time. Bill was such an integral part of the fibre of Arklow. Rest in Peace.

Bill was a pure gentleman and such a lovely man, and we had the privilege of caring for him in his final days. He will be fondly remembered by all here for his warmth, gentle nature, and kind spirit.

A special mention also to his son Liam, who could not have been a more devoted and caring son, a true testament to the legacy of his father.

May he rest in eternal peace.

He was such a great character. We "soldiered" together in the last century, and especially I remember January 1st 2000, with the "shoot out on Main Street"

As i kid i remember the chip shop bill had the most lovely fluffy chips and the burger but bills was the one place were you could hang out on a Saturday and forget about everything and you could play pool and and eat you chips and they werent large bag of chips but they were extra large bag of chips and those days you pocket money was saved every Saturday just to hang out as a group
Bill was a lovely funny kind man and when the chip shop closed we were all sad because we didnt have a hang out place anymore
But billy will be missed but will never be forgotten

Bill was very much a part of my formative years. My summers in Arklow back in the 60s saw me climbing the steps to the green baize parlour and to the camaraderie of the snooker hall at Bumpta’s. Bill and I hit it off from the start and I enjoyed his company from then on, although I was never good enough to beat him at the game. I will miss Bill enormously. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.
