I only had the pleasure of getting to know Bill in recent years through his love for golf and like so many of us golfers, Bill was always on the look-out for that next new golf club that might just work wonders!!, even in his 90’s.
It was always a pleasure to hear from Bill or for him to call by after seeing a new ping club that caught his eye.
A true gentleman, who we will sadly miss.

I worked with Bill in 34 College Green for 17 years and during that time learnt everything I know about banking. Bill was the most patient and kind person you could meet. He would spend any amount of time explaining any problem that arose. treating staff and customers alike in a helpful and kind manner. It might have helped that we were both from Tuam but we did not know each other prior to joining the bank. It was my privilege to have had him as my manager

Very sorry to hear of Bill's passing (always knew him as Mr. Leo) and send my sincere condolences to his family. I worked as his secretary in 34 and Talbot Street and apart from a few initial difficulties in deciphering his handwriting, I always enjoyed working for him. He was a truly compassionate and humble man who tried to help all who came into his office. Very grateful to have known you Bill. May you travel gently to your next destination.

I first met Bill Leo when, as a penurious trainee accountant, I applied to open an account at 34 CG.
He was kind, and understanding. He approved an overdraft to allow my wife and I go on our honeymoon. Over the years we met regularly to review the account. He made meticulous notes and he was a good advisor. He helped us with our first mortgage. Exceptionally, when I was on business in Yemen, stranded because my credit card was not accepted, Bill set up complex arrangements at short notice to ensure I had funds. I always think of him as a special gentleman and an outstanding Bank Manager. My deepest condolences to his wife and family on the loss of such a fine man.

Dear Inez, l am sad to hear of the death of a very good friend, Bill. He was held in the highest esteem at College Green. Your kindness in supplying substantial breakfasts prior to setting out for lessons from the master himself at Grange Golf Club on weekends has never been forgotten. Please forgive my non attendance at Bill's funeral. I am confined to home now. Mary joins with me in offering our condolences.
Sincerest condolences to Inez and the family. It’s a shame we don’t have more human beings like Bill was, truly a privilege to have known and worked with him . Rest with God Bill.

A half century has passed since we soldiered together in 34 College Green (The National Bank). I consider myself to have been extremely
lucky to have benefitted from Bill's tutelage. Always supportive of staff
and generous with his time looking after Branch customers.
Mr Leo's "bike" is now parked up and his"pipe" quenched. Treasured
memories indeed. May Bill rest in Peace.
