On behalf of the Carmichael & Wright family we would like to say a few words in respect of
the recent passing of Bill Wright. Uncle to Kathy and David and great uncle to Kelly, Thomas, &
Jonathan. Bill was a constant in our lives and leaves a gap which will be hard to fill. An
extremely generous man with a big heart, a wise councillor, with a dry sense of humour. He
spent most Christmases, and occasional summer breaks with us, and we most recently often
spent time with him in Cobh. Always a pleasure to be around. Always an opinion to share,
with the occasional witty devilish, viewpoint. Bill was one of a kind, his like will not be seen
again, which is sad, but he lived a full life, into his 99th year, his life was well lived, and our
memories of him will live on.

It is with great sadness we say goodbye to Bill Wright, our founding member and President of Cobh Gramophone Society - his interest in music spanning the years since the Society was established back in the early '70s. Bill was a lovely gentleman, full of chat with a store of interesting anecdotes, a joy to engage with at our weekly recitals; dapper and always immaculately turned out, he was loved and held in high regard by all members - a true measure of the man. We shall miss you Bill, you have been an integral part of our Society for so many years, your passing will leave a void. To Bill's family and loyal friends we send our condolences on his passing and share in your sorrow. May his lively spirit find solace in the heavenly music he's sure to uncover.

Very saddened to hear of Billy's passing. I remember him as a true gentleman who was very helpful & friendly to me when I was a young MEO at the end of the 80s

I am deeply saddened at the news of Bill's passing. A man of high morals and sincere compassion who had an incredibly positive and warm-hearted outlook on life. I had many Saturday morning coffees with him in Kelly's and the conversations were enthralling. He was loved and admired by us all in the Naval Service and particularly in the Naval Dockyard. It is with a heavy heart that I read of the passing of my lovely longterm friend Bill. We shared the same birthday and every year since we met we always exchanged birthday cards & Christmas cards. To be honest, Bill always sent his cards to me first. I missed those cards this year just passed. What a wonderful, caring and interesting person he was.
