To the Fitzpatrick family, so sorry to hear the sad news of Billy's passing. My deepest condolences to you all! Billy was a true gentleman and colleague. Always very helpful and good humored. Have fond memories of him. Thinking of you all, his family, at this sad time. May Billy rest in peace.
So sorry only to hear today of Billy's passing as I was abroad.
A wonderful colleague in the Council and great company.
R.I.P.
Remember Billy from Parnel Sq. Was too young & innocent to really 'get' Billy. All I remember is how 'cool' he dressed & the craic...
I just found out yesterday that Billy had passed and offer my sincere sympathy to Eammon and his family - Billy was an engaging, kind, special gentleman, the world is a lesser place with his passing - I know he is in haven now and no doubt enjoying many celestial train journeys - rest in peace my friend.
My deepest sympathies to Eamonn and all the family on dear Billy's passing. We teamed up together in the mid 60's at work in Dublin County Council and were firm friends ever since. We had many adventures together at home and abroad, he was my best man and godfather to my daughter. Our friendship endured my move to the wilds of Connemara. He was one of a kind and I am so saddened and shocked to hear of his death. I'll miss his friendship, wit and sense of humour greatly.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
Our deepest sympathy to Eamon and the Fitzpatrick family on the death of Billy.
Sincere sympathy Eamon on the sad loss of your brother Billy. May he rest in peace
Deepest sympathy to you Eamonn and all of your family on Billy's passing. May he rest in peace.. He was a great work colleague and a lovely person. I knew him for 40 years..
My sympathies to the Fitzpatrick family on Billy's passing. Like a lot of others I had the pleasure of working with and learning from Billy during my time in drawing office in SDCC. It always amazed me how Billy could describe the exact location of every pipe and manhole in the county even though he rarely left the office. A veritable human GIS, with a much better sense of humour!
So sad to hear of Billy's death. We worked together for 10 years from 1974 in Dublin County Council and he was a true friend always and a great colleague. He was loved by all and greatly respected for his knowledge and an absolute gentleman. It was so nice to see and meet so many of his old workmates today at his funeral mass, and we all miss him so much and can't still believe that he's gone from us.
Goodbye old friend, rest in peace.

I'm very sad to hear of Billy's passing. On my first day at work, 42 years ago, I had the great luck to be assigned to the same office as Billy. For the following 3 years we had the best craic. We laughed our way through each day and did our job as well. He knew more about every sewer and watermain in County Dublin at the time than the entire rest of the Sanitary Services. He's the only man I ever met who said he came from Limerick Junction!
Fortunately, I was able to catch up with Billy in the relatively recent past and sure he hadn't changed a bit.
I hope he's enjoying his beloved Opera where ever he is - I can just picture him chatting with Maria Callas.
So sorry to hear of Billy's untimely passing. Sincere condolences to all his family. An extremely courteous and gentle man. He will be sadly missed around the neighbourhood.
Sincere sympathy to Eamonn and family on the sudden passing of Billy. He was a gentleman and I enjoyed many lunch breaks in his company over the years.
My deepest sympathy to the Fitzpatrick family on Billy’s death. He was a friend of my late wife in their younger days. R. I. P.
We were deeply shocked and saddened to hear of Billy's sudden death. We have known Billy since 1979. He was a dear friend and colleague of our late father Frank when they both worked in Dublin County Council. He was also an excellent neighbour in Meadowbank since the 1980s. We would like to send our deepest condolences to Eamonn and all the family. He will be greatly missed.
Our sincere condolences to all of Billy's Family. He was a gentleman to work with. May he rest in peace.
II was deeply shocked and saddened when I received the call from Gabrielle McGee telling be that Billy had passed away. I've known him since 1979 when I joined Dublin Co.Co., whilst I knew him well during our working careers It was really alter we retired in 2009 that we had most contact, Periodically I would call to him we would go for lunch and visit his single aunt Tess at Springfield near The Montrose Hotel.(he really was her sole carer) and would catch 3 buses each way to get there. Billy was not a technology or I.T .man, at work he had an email address but no desktop computer or laptop, he never bought or drove a car yet he owned a parking space in Meadowbank, he bought a mobile phone about 10 years ago, it never left the packaging. Hid did buy a second one about 18 months ago (presumably at Eamon's urging),he could make receive a call top it up but texting was out. My contact with him became phone only after corvid, which seriously interfered with his routine as he could no longer eat out which was his lifeline, visiting his usual eateries having lunch a few pints and the crack. He was a very learned BBC was his main source of information, mention any place in Ireland or the world and he would be well informed.
.Billy was everyone's friend decent generous witty fantastic company, it was my privilege to have known him. Rest in Peace dear friend.
Condolences to Eamonn and family, very fond memories of working with Billy in the Drawing Office, Parnell Square.

My Brother informed me of Billy's passing. He knew Billy as a valued customer of Centra in Terenure; and that we once were colleagues in Dublin County Council.

Billy was a Gentleman. Clever, opinionated, droll and astute. Like me, Billy wrote the odd missive to The Irish Times and had more than a few published.

May Billy Rest In Peace.

Larry Dunne.

So sorry to hear of Billy's passing. When I joined the drawing office in DCC as a young girl, Billy was a true man-about-town city batchelor. Jacket, shirt & tie, lunch out every day, pub on Friday night and yes Thursdays too. His wit was quick and visual delivered in a laid back, head scratching way accompanied with a little chuckle that would have us in stitches. Always the gentleman - he was one in a million and it was a pleasure to have known him.
