William (Billy) Gillen

On behalf of the Minch family, sincere condolences to Orla, Eanna, and Grainne on the death of their father Billy.

While I met Billy in the offices of Minch Norton in Dublin as a youngster, it was only when I joined the Company in 1983 as an assistant in the Accounts office that I got to know him.

What a wonderful person he was. He was so welcoming and helpful and had a wonderful wicked sense of humour. He was also a very loyal and dedicated servant to the Company while he was there which was greatly appreciated.

Billy had a great religious belief and I always remember our mutual boss at the time, Ray Downes, giving out to me quietly one day when Billy wasn't present for swearing on the phone. He believed that it would have caused Billy great offence! I told Billy about it later and we had a great laugh.

My other special memory of him was his great dancing ability. At one staff Christmas party he got up with my wife and showed me up completely!

What a wonderful sincere person. We shall all miss him.
