Our sincere condolences to all of Billy's family for your loss. Billy was a real gentleman. Seeing his white Toyota Carina passing the door was followed by "Billy's off to Tipp", probably to visit yourselves. We enjoyed seeing Billy out in his Ford tractor behind our house spreading fertiliser, getting ready for the silage. Silage was always in July, when the gooseberries were ready to be picked from Granny Lizzie Ryan's gooseberry bushes. The children loved that time of year. Billy's cows were no stranger either, and from time to time came to visit us. Walking them back up the road they knew where home was and when they were reunited with Billy, he would say, 'you've done me a great turn'.
It's the end of an era in Ashfield and Billy and his way of farming will sorely be missed. Xx
