Billy was my oldest and dearest friend. We met when we were both four years old and starting school in St Peter’s. We both played for Homefarm and Bohemians. Billy was a gentle man and a true leader. I’ll miss him terribly. I send my deepest sympathies to the Newman family.

So sad to hear of Billy's passing. We played together on Home Farm's FAI youths team in 1965 and toured the USA together. Billy was our captain, had an incredible football brain and was a gentleman and a great leader. He'll be sadly missed. Sincere condolences to his family.
