William (Billy) STAUNTON

I am so sad and shocked to hear about Billy's passing. An absolute gentleman. Deepest sympathy to Una and all the family. Thinking of you all. Rest in peace Billy.

I was so sad to hear Billy had passed away. I have so many wonderful memories of him from way back before he joined the Garda.He was such a devil. I’m so glad I went to see him at the the Staunton gathering in Partry last year. I also called him on his birthday. My deepest sympathy to Una and the family on this so sad occasion. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

Dear Una, Aisling, Suzanne, Cliona and Aidan. I only learned recently of Billy's passing and was very saddened by that news. You may or may not remember me but I lodged with you in Swords in 1968 and 1969 when I worked as a new junior Clerk in Northern Bank. I met Billy many times in later years when I golfed in Forrest Little and we always had a great chat and a bit of good craic. He will be greatly missed by everyone but especially your family. May he rest in eternal peace.

Reading through the many messages here it’s so obvious how much people loved and respected you from your time as a Garda in Swords to you as a neighbor and A friend. My memory of you is as a member and Captain of Forrest Little GC where myself and many members of Oughterard GC enjoyed your wonderful hospitality and infectious hospitality and friendship. You welcomed us to your home and together with your loving Una overwhelmed us west of Ireland persons with kindness and no little alcohol. Dear Billy memories of those wonderful times in your

Very sorry to learn of the death of Billy. He was a great friend of the O'Gorman family for over 50 years. My sisters, Maureen and Betty, and the extended O'Gorman family had many fun occasions with Billy over those years. Have just watched the beautiful funeral Mass on Webcam and Aidan's wonderful eulogy really captured the spirit and essence of his Dad. Sincere condolences to Una, Aidan, Aisling, Suzanne & Cliona.

We joined the Garda on the same date 26/07/63.
More than once we were paired off as opponents in the boxing ring in the gym in Phoenix Park..Billy always had the upper hand. Such a very nice person..will say a prayer for his soul..he should have no bother in gaining admission to the abode beyond the sky
