Clay was a determined high quality advocate for biochemistry and its central role in medical investigation. His legacy in medical education lives on in the MSc in TCD and in the ACB. Thanks Clay. May he rest in peace.
Expressing my condolence to Clayton's family on his recent death. We were colleagues in Biochemistry in TCD Naturlal Sciences for decades and I know he set up a modern clinical biochemistry service in both Sir Patrick Dun's and St. James' hospitals and the masters in clinical biochemistry course that trained so many in the profession. He was a good friend too.
Remembering also, Kay and Cliona.
Deepest sympathy to Clayton's family, he was the lovliest of gentlemen and had such a love of classical music. I so enjoyed chatting with him every Friday at the National Concert Hall. He was such a kind decent interesting person. He will be sorely missed.
So sorry to hear of Clayton's passing, may he rest in peace. He was an impressive, diplomatic and charismatic person. He contributed significantly to the development of Clinical Biochemistry in Ireland and the training of Clinical Biochemists and was respected internationally.
My deepest condolences to all of William Clayton's family and extended family. The Loves are still greatly respected in Cobh. Older folks remember fondly the lobster pools and the lobsters being shipped out by the tenders in sawdust filled boxes to the liners. May William Clayton Rest in Peace.
To the Love family, on behalf of the Biochemistry Department, St James’s Hospital, I would like to extend deepest sympathies on the sad passing of our erstwhile colleague Clayton. He was a central figure in developing this vital diagnostic laboratory support service and served the department diligently and with great foresight for over 20 years. Moreover, Clayton was to the forefront in the evolution of laboratory medicine services in this country. On a personal level, I thoroughly enjoyed working with Clayton. He, along with his colleague Prof. Rory O’Moore, was very supportive of me in my pursuit of a career in this area of practice, and I am very grateful to them both for providing me with the opportunity to fulfil this goal and for their sage mentorship all those years ago.

May he rest in peace.
Sincere sympathy to you Graham and to to Brian and Clayton on the sad passing of your Dad.
