To Joan, June, Avril, Lyn, Joy, Ruth and Emma, my deepest sympathies on the loss of Billy, one of the true characters that I remember so well from my youth in Jack Whites.

One day stood out, both Billy and Jim Doyle bought new Opel Rekords from Max Hill, our local Opel dealer, on the same day. They took delivery, not at Hill's of Arklow, but in the pub, where the new purchasers, along with Max and my dad Johnnie, partied on for many hours, to celebrate.

Billy had an infectious grin and a glint in his eye, which I will always remember. When June's Debs night was approaching, Billy quietly suggested that she might ask one of the O'Neill boys to accompany her. A few weeks later, we were sitting in the Killiney Castle, June and I, Billy and Joan, with Derek and Hilda Crammond. it was a great occasion which I still remember fondly.

He will be sorely missed but he lived a full a life as anybody could and always kept his best side out. Now at rest.
