WILLIAM LAURENCE (LORCAN) MONGEY

Lorcan was a great friend who I miss dearly. His sharp mind was matched by his kindness, love of quizzes and puzzles, financial acumen and sense of humour. There are many people in Belfast who remember him from when he worked here and I was honoured to attend his funeral and know we will never forget him.

I had the pleasure of working with Lorcan many years ago in Belfast. I can picture him now sitting talking to me in Liberty IT and talking about flying. He had done what I had always dreamt of and got his Private Pilot Licence! He very kindly invited me to the Ulster Flying Club in Newtownards to see him flying. I really admired him when he left Belfast and studied law. He was always very thoughtful and I remember him visiting us in Belfast when my girls were young and he was travelling up and down to Tramore. I miss his cards with updates of his life and his beloved cats. He was always a very kind, interesting man and a gentle soul, a gentleman. Left us much too soon, dear Lorcan. My sincere sympathies for his sister Caitriona, his mum, Sarah, all his brothers and sisters, and all the family. May he rest in peace.

I had the wonderful good pleasure of working with Lorcan many years ago - way back in the 1990s - when he made the trepidatious move from Shorts into pure software development.

Deeply thoughtful and always the gentleman, I am sure I speak for everyone who had the pleasure of working, socialising or even flying(!) with Lorcan, that he will always be remembered as one of life’s lovely people.

I worked with Lorcan for a few years in the 90s in my first job at Unibol. I still remember him well. He was a lovely guy. Very sad to hear of his passing

Highly intelligent, funny and a very kind and respectful person. Many a chat we had about the John Peel radio show, aeroplanes and his love of M & S canned food. He was one of life's true gentlemen and will be sadly missed.

Lorcan worked with us in Property Management Dept in the mid 2000s. He was a diligent worker and a great asset to the property mapping section . He left to join Taillte Eireann and never forget us at Christmas time . We were extremely fond of him . Rest in peace dear friend .

Lorcan was a colleague who challenged, supported and encourage but most of all befriend me. Always respectful, kind, helpful and very knowledgeable on all things feline.
