Sincere sympathy to all williams family back in 1993 i met william for the first time he was such a lovely gentle man to talk to we always met up for dinner at a small place called Emerald in parnell st in Ennis . It closed down and for a few years after we did not meet . It is with great sorrow that we heard of Willie’s passing. Our heartfelt condolences go out to May, James, Marie, Andrew, the O’Neill family and all the extended family, friends and neighbours. We happily reminisce about our fond memories with Willie and we remember how his sense of humour and lovely personality could light up the room. He always had many a great story to tell us and we always awaited receiving his entertaining letters with much anticipation. We were lucky to visit him in October and talk about old times and his brief stay in England.
From Willie pulling me along in my pram with his bike which resulted in me on the ground, and him catching a mouse in a wellington boot, these are cherished memories of our relationship over the decades. Even when talking about negative topics his sense of humour had a way of finding a positive in everything and we are grateful that we got to be a part of his life. May he rest in peace. Michael, Catherine, Andrew, Chris and Kate.

Our deepest sympathy to Aunt May, Uncle James, Marie, Andrew, the O'Neill family and the extended family also to Willie's friends, neighbours and aqaintances.
With fond memories of a dear Uncle, who will be greatly missed. In later life we missed his letters as his ill health robbed him of his ability to write.
We all use to love receiving his letters - they were chronicles of life- filled with anything and everything - the hay, the weather, the cattle, the economy, politics, current affairs, world disasters and topical news albeit from the next Parish or the other side of the world. Willie loved to read and listen to the radio and his letters and conversation demonstrated his interest in everything. His passion for letter writing and listening to the radio landed him in bother once too. Almost 40 years ago, he travelled to Lancashire, England, to attend our Wedding and unknown to us Willie had written to Radio Eireann with a music request for the night of our Wedding. My Mother, nor anyone, did not know where my father (John) and Willie had disappeared to, only to find out later, that they had been sat outside in the car listening to Radio Eireann, waiting for Willie's request to be played, whilst all the celebrations were in progress.
Uncle Willie also took great delight in taking us sightseeing around Clare and Kerry and visiting extended family and friends.
Happy memories of a dear Uncle and Great Uncle, may he rest in peace. Anne-Marie, Stephen and family

Sincere sympathy and condolences to Willie’s extended family on his death. Our paths crossed while our mother was also resident in Carrigoran. Easy-going, his ready smile and open friendliness always made for an engaging encounter.
