A gentleman, he was an excellent Platoon Sergeant who worked tirelessly looking after his colleagues to the highest standards of the Defence Forces. A pleasure to have served with him. I served in Lebanon with Willie in 1980/81 and in the 12th Inf Bn, he was a decent man. Not too many left from that platoon now. May Willie rest in peace and my condolences to the O'Connor family on the death of Willie.
