What a life! His watch was a lesser casualty of the Luftwaffe in 1941, leaving it in for repair in a North Strand jewellers, it was never returned. I have so many great memories of Billy down through the years; visits to Lucan with Josie and Delia; eating sliced banana on his generously buttered homemade brown bread (a first for me!) as a kid visiting Kennelsfort Road; his array of vegetables in a garden that seemed to run on forever; his extraordinary recall of events, often in my case, a lifetime ago. I hope he kept a diary.
