It is only now that we gather ourselves after the passing of Willie, so close to Liz. They will be sadly missed by their great family and multitude of friends. My friendship with Willie goes back to our primary Class of 1954, and there was never a harsh word between us. Kate and Liz were close friends. We wereI were engaged, married, and had children around the same time. Both of us had five children, two boys and three girls. I was very proud and deeply honoured to speak at the Mass. Memories of their lives will live in our hearts forever. The world is a far better place for having two beautiful people pass through.

My Sincere sympathy to all Willie's Family. I was part of the 1971 Leaving Cert. Class- the first from Maynooth Post Primary School and as so many have said-a true gentleman and great teacher. Reunited now with Liz, may they both rest in peace.

Willie, was a teacher who changed my life, without doubt.
He also turned the light bulb on for many non-academic students, who otherwise might have left school with just achievements in practical subjects. Thereby allowing them to forge a career combining business studies and the practical.
A quietly spoken man, who was respectful to all. A true professional. A great example of what a teacher should be.

I am a blow in to Maynooth, despite living in the town 18+ years. In the earlier years I used meet Willie out walking his dogs and I was walking my dogs. We would stand and chat for awhile, about the world, my kids & the GAA. I used to welcome the chats. God rest your soul Willie, a true gent.
