William (Willie) Cummins

Dearest Janice, Nainsi and all the Coogan and Cummins Families as they all try to come to terms with the untimely death of William (Willie). May he rest in Peace the kindest gentlest man with the biggest heart and had so much more living and Love to give.
Sending everyone my thoughts and prayers as tomorrow it will be his Months Mind.
May God Bless everyone at this time. May he strengthen and give them comfort knowing that a man this kind will never be forgotten he will live on in everyone’s heart as each person will constantly be reminded of his goodness and the goodwill he has left behind as his Spirit continues to live on in a very special way for each of you.

Dear Willie, it’s been three weeks since you passed but it feels more like three years. The house is empty, devoid of the light and humor you brought to it. The kitchen is bare, cold – and not just in the temperature sense. Your presence is missed in so many ways. It’s still so hard to believe you’re gone.

Will we ever get over your passing? I very much doubt it. For how does one replace a piece of their heart? Does it grow back? No, it does not. For mammy, I suspect it’s even worse. She feels as if half of her is missing. And will that half ever grow back? No, it will not.

We may learn to cope with your passing eventually – I have heard it said so. But that does not mean that we will stop missing you. We will miss you for the rest of our lives – until we see you again (which I am certain we will). I know that you are at peace – which gives me some comfort. I also know that your spirit will be guiding us for the rest of our lives.

I am so grateful to have known such a kind, gentle soul and to have shared some of my life with you. You were a father to me and were the love of mammy’s life. Someday, I will tell the next generation about this great man that I once knew. That was generous, caring and brought light into every room.

I will leave it at that for now. I love you, I miss you and I will always remember you. Rest in Peace, Willie. I know that you are now the brightest star in the night sky - looking down on us all.

We have such fond memories of times with Willie when we visited Ireland. He was always, always a kind gentleman with us, and always, always more than gracious with his words and kind comments towards us (as Katie's parents). Willie was a very gentle soul and a terrific lover of people. He will be missed greatly by many.
