So very sorry to hear of Willie's death. We would still cross paths, from time to time, in Cabra, after his retirement from St. Peter's. He did such a great job in his years as sacristan, there. To echo an earlier message, his wit brightened many a day and he was one of a kind.

Condolences to all the family.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

It's so sad to think that our Uncle Willie has passed and we send our love strength and prayers to Caroline Andy Liam Elizabeth Daniel Adam and Laura. Dear Caroline & Liam,

I was so sorry to hear of Willie’s passing, as it doesn’t seem that long ago since I last saw him with the lads outside the bank. Outside of the job whenever I bumped into himself and John on their walks I fondly remember the laughter, Willie was always great for a laugh.

In work he was so helpful to me, opening up the office so that everything was prepared and ready to go. When it came time for me to do my driving test, he took me out a few times to Glasnevin Industrial Estate to practice. I passed but only because of his help.

I’m sorry I can’t be with you this morning for his funeral Mass, I’m in hospital for the past 3 weeks. I couldn’t be with you in person but I was with you via webcam. It was a beautiful Mass and you both spoke so lovingly about your dad. And Fr Devlin’s homily was so lovely too. I will continue to keep Willie and all of his family in my thoughts and prayers.

Sincere sympathies to Caroline and Liam and extended family as Willie has entered Eternal Life.
So many memories of Willie as the Sacristan in St Peter’s for around 20 years. He used to open the church doors every morning about 7am and close them each evening after the 6pm mass when there used to be 5 daily masses. He was the stalwart in Saint Peter’s for all of those years for every occasion from Christmas to the Easter week ceremonies, all of the parishioners Funerals, Weddings, Baptisms, Feast Days and many other religious celebrations -- they all took place like clockwork under his guidance, supervision and direction.
Willie no doubt gave great and loyal service and support to all of the Priests in the parish over the years, to visiting priests and all of the Sisters in the Daughters of Charity.
He was always in good form and engaging with everyone in the Church whether they were parishioners or visitors to the Church.
Delighted that I visited Willie just a few weeks ago in the Nursing home as we reminisced about so many happy days and times over the years.
No doubt Caroline and Liam and extended family, the many happy and fond memories you all have of Willie will give you strength at this sad time.
He certainly keep the faith to the very end and fought the good fight to the finish.
