Willie was an absolute gentleman, i remember way back when i first drove into Drogheda on a 101 in the 90s willie was the first person i met in the bus station and he looked after me.may you rest in peace willie.

I’m very sad to hear of Willie’s passing. He was a very nice man and I enjoyed a few chats with him. May he rest in peace.

A great loss not only to his family but to all those who knew. When those of us of a certain age think of Bus Eireann, Willie would be central to our memories along with his late colleagues Mr. Cunningham, Mr. Conaghy, and of course Kevin Kelly and many others. His work with river rescue will never be forgotten and that great work and dedication is still carried on today - never to be forgotten. He could be seen immaculately turned out in the front pew of St. Marys Church every Sunday. Rest well Willie.

I suppose this is a side of Willie that people would forget. Many a time myself, Willie and other lads from the River Rescue searched the waters for people lost. We were often in some dangerous situations and I have to say that the bauld Willie was absolutely fearless.
You were a great friend.
