I was so saddened to learn of this beautiful gentleman’s passing…. I was privileged to have worked with William in The Ambassador for some time. He truly was one in a million, so kind, generous, funny, a beautiful smile and laugh. I love that his photo here is so very much him.

It is with deep sadness that I've recently heard of the passing of William Wong rip.My heartfelt sympathy to you Mr.and Mrs Wong on the sad loss of your lovely son William,and to Linda ,Norman and Jimmy on losing your dear brother and to the extended Wong family.I had the privilege of meeting you shortly after your arrival in Cork from Hong Kong.I taught William in Senior Infants, in North Presentation Infant school.He arrived in late Autumn not knowing the English language but by the end of school year, he had mastered,not only English but Irish as well.He was a very bright student, endowed with a great capacity to learn languages,and was gifted artistically.William had a wonderful sense of humour and gave us many a laugh!He being the bright student that he was, he skipped First Class and went directly to the North Monastery and into Second Class where he excelled.
It was a joy to have met William years later as a young adult managing the Ambassador Restaurant where he exuded a lovely warmth, graciousness and generously gifted me with a delicious chinese meal.
I enjoyed our occasional encounters Mrs Wong and Linda over the years, you were always so friendly,kind and appreciative. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time of deep loss and grief.

He was an amazing person to achieve what he did during his time in the North Mon doing all his subjects through honours Irish and his time in the Ambassador Restaurant. As front of house William was always so welcoming with his easy manner and warm and mischievous smile.
