Willy's funeral was beautiful and his niece's tribute blessed my heart.
I watched online from the US at 7am...the music, singing, the pastor's lovely homily , the whole tone was beautiful and befitting of this sweet gentleman.

Very saddened to hear of Willies passing.
Willie was very good to me when I started as an apprentice in Bord na Mona. He gave me a lift to work for two years and would never take a penny for petrol.
Whenever I called into his shop over the years we would have a chat and a laugh about those days.
He was a true gentleman and will be sorely missed by his family and the people of Killala.

I knew Willie since I was a kid. Every school holiday my siblings and I would stay with Granny Regan in Killala. Going to Willie's shop is still one of the most special memories for me. Canned sweets and ice-cream wafers after mass. And always a chat and a smile from Willie.

The last time I was in Killala, I chatted with Willie for ages about everything from my late father to the obligatory after-mass goodies.

Killala is so fortunate to have had a man like Willie.

And I am so grateful that I had the honour of knowing him. Rest in peace, you lovely man.
