Deepest condolence to Gavin, Eoin, her adored grandchildren, extended family and friends, Yvonne was a wonderful lady , may she rip with her beloved Gerry.❤️❤️
"The great use of life is to spend it for something that will outlast it."
A very fitting quote for Yvonne (Mrs McAuliffe as we knew her). She was a strong, independent, woman who not only ran a successful business, but did so in a way that inspired others to believe in themselves and flourish.
She led by example; nurtured and protected; gave hope to those who needed it; encouraged us to be the best version of ourselves we could be at a crucial time in our lives.
For me, she bridged the gap between leaving home and taking my 'first steps' in the working world. It was the best year of my teenage years.
Yvonne networked to get so many young hopeful women interviews and jobs and didn't stop until we were safely employed. Trust me, this was no mean feat in 1981.
Fairfeld was far more than a secretarial and finishing college. It was a place where lifelong friendships and lasting memories were made.
During that year, we all went on a college trip to Majorca. This was an annual event and each night the girls would make a dinner for Mrs McAuliffe and Mrs O'Sea (the typing teacher). I often wonder how they survived being fed by a bunch of teenagers with zero cullinary skills.
On behalf of all past pupils, we are saddened by your loss and eternally grateful for your love and kindness.
Thank you for the memories.
Rest in Peace 🙏🏻 🤍

This is a past pupil of Fairfield College.
I was there in 1981.
I moved to New York a year later , where l have remained.
Myself and my dear friend and also Fairfield past pupil, Christina Culleton
( Now in England), were literally just talking about her and our days at the college. We were wondering about Mrs McAuliffe and how she might be doing, when Christina went and and sadly saw this news.
We send our sympathies to her family and want them to know, that Mrs McAuliffe and our wonderful memories of Fairfield, will always be a part of our lives and was the reason we became close friends.
She was dynamic and made are experience both entertaining and memorable.
Sad news indeed…
My heartfelt condolences
Laura. 🙏❤️

We are very saddened on the passing of dear Yvonne so soon following the passing of her dear husband, Gerard.
We extend our love and deepest sympathies to Gavin, Martina & family and to Eoin and to all the Dunne families, on the sad loss of Yvonne - Mother, Nana, Sister, Aunt and Grand Aunt.
Yvonne was a beautiful person in every respect and a very talented and dynamic person in so many aspects of her life, which included: Founder & Principal of Fairfield Secretarial College, President & Council Member of The Irish Institute of Training & Development IITD, now, Learning & Development Institute L&DI. She loved her tennis and all her great friends at Elm Park. She was a very caring person and always took an active interest in raising concerns about things that she felt were not being done or handled correctly, especially in the areas of leadership, training and development, in the world as she knew it should be. She was a good friend, a great conversationalist and wonderful company. Yvonne had a great laugh and a great sense of fun and humour.
Yvonne, Ar Dhéis Dé go Raibh Do Anam Uasal.
May your noble soul again enjoy the company of your beloved Gerard. We miss you both.

My sincere sympathy to Jean and the sons of Yvonne. I knew Yvonne well from her tennis days in Elm Park. She was part of a group of players who competed in an informal competition every Saturday afternoon organised by Yvonne Burke. The highlight of the afternoon was the tea and chocolate cake! Yvonne was a good tennis player and The tennis was enjoyed by us all too!
