DANIEL GRANT HUMMEL
April 3 1940 to 5 July 2025
“Dan loved an extraordinary life of slow adventures, having jumped ship from the American Navy in the Vietnam war, he spent the next 25 years in Japan, learning and teaching it's language and culture. He then moved to Dali in China and lived another 25 years there. He had come to Ireland in the 70s and bought a small valley on the sheep's head peninsula and spent his summers there, building fantastic stone structures on his land and living as close to nature as is possible.
A builder, philosopher, wanderer, philanthropist and lover of life, Dan will be missed by his many friends all around the world”.
