Deirdre Gillespie
(née McDermott)

The death has occurred peacefully at the North West Hospice Sligo of Deirdre Gillespie (nee McDermott) Powellsborough, Tubbercurry, Co. Sligo. after a short illness, borne with courage and dignity, on the 10th December 2025 (Vice Principal Scoil Íosa, Carracastle, Co. Mayo).

Pre-deceased by her parents Christina and Séamus. Deeply missed by her heartbroken family – Ciara, Aoife, Ruairí and her husband Pauric. - siblings Rufina (Joe) and Michael (Celia) (Breaffy) – nephews Kenneth, Stephen, Paul, Niall, - relatives, neighbours, friends, colleagues and pupils and extended McDermott and Gillespie families.

Deirdre will repose at her home in Powellsborough (F91 W1R9) on Friday, December 12th from 4:00 – 6:00pm and 6:30 – 9:00pm. Removal from her residence on Saturday morning, 13th December, to St. Patrick’s Church, Moylough for funeral mass at 11:00 am. Burial afterwards in Rhue Cemetery.
