Dermot Rabbitte

On Tuesday, 14th April 2026, Dermot drew his last breath, peacefully, at University Hospital Galway, with his loving family by his side.

Predeceased by his wife, Sally, and son Shane. Rest in peace.

Dermot was a quiet family man with a passion for music and sport. He never looked for attention, but was always the first to light up the dance floor on any occasion. He spent most of his working life typesetting at the Connacht Tribune.

He is deeply mourned and very sadly missed by his heartbroken sons and daughter; Gregory, Sandra, Neil and Diarmuid, son-in-law Raymond, son's partners Ciara and Kelly and his seven adored grandchildren Shane, Sophie, Saoirse, Aoife, Órla, Emma and Caoimhe.

Lovingly remembered also by his brothers Paul and Edwin, sister Anne, nieces and nephews, the extended Rabbitte family, neighbours and friends.

Funeral Arrangements

Sunday 19 April : Reposing at Mervue Funeral Parlour, adjacent to the Holy Family Church, Mervue from 6pm with removal at 7:30pm to St. Brigids Church, Ballybane. Please enter the funeral parlour through the Church.

Monday 20 April : Requiem Mass will be celebrated for Dermot in St. Brigids Church at 11am. Following Mass he will be laid to rest in Rahoon Cemetery.
