Desmond Patrick Joseph Doyle

 

Desmond Patrick Joseph Doyle, Born in Carrigeen, Baltinglass, with his brother Frank, on Oct 10th 1936, has died Nov 12th 2025, at 9:35 am at Naas Hospital. His three sons Desmond (Cathy), Christian (Kim), Noel, and his daughter Rosemary travelled from Canada to spend the last few days with him. At the end he was with Paddy Doyle (his nephew), Christian and Kim. He is predeceased by his infant son, John, his brother Frank, his nephew Jim and sister in law Mary.

Des moved to Canada 1957 and brought over his fiancé Mary Rose Powell, marrying shortly after her arrival. They were together until her death, three years ago. They built a life together and raised a family in Canada. In 1998, they retired back to Ireland.

He will greatly be missed by his sister, Lorna and her sons, his children, and grandchildren, Thomas, Patrick (Alysa), Jacqueline (Max), Caroline, Amethyst, Cole, Maccleson and Pressman. And by his nephews and nieces Marie, Ann, Fiona, Francis, Paddy and Mark, to whom he was like a second father.

He was a beautiful man. Those are the words that we know but that also come from everyone who offers their sympathy, and no truer words were spoken.

He loved gardening, making jam, science and history, helping his family, and friends and he loved telling stories about the history of our family and the history of Ireland. For us, his passing is the end of an era. But stories of his life and his helping heart, kindness, sense of fun and the twinkle in his eye will be told of for years to come by the people he met across two continents.

 

Reposing at his residence in Tankardstown, Baltinglass (Eircode W91 Y0YP) on Friday, 14th November from 3pm to 7.30pm. House private thereafter please.

 

Funeral arriving (via Carrigeen) to Baltinglass Cemetery at 2pm on Saturday where he will be laid to rest with his wife Mary Rose.
