Doreen Houlihan

The death has occurred of Doreen Houlihan (Née L’Estrange) Newlands, late of Oliver Plunkett Street and formerly of Ballynagall, Mullingar, Co Westmeath, January 26th 2026 (peacefully) in the company of her loving family and in the tender care of the staff at the Midland Regional Hospital Mullingar.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Tommy (Tosser), her parents Annie and Stephen and her brother Andrew.

Doreen will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her family, Bernadette, Margaret, Paul and Stephen, daughter-in-law Annmarie, adored grandchildren Jonathan, Rebecca, Ben and Andrew, and great-grandchildren Imogen and Ethan.

Also dearly missed and fondly remembered by Jonathan’s wife Katie, sisters Betty, Maureen and Rose, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, valued neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Gilsenan’s Funeral Home (N91 K660) on Wednesday January 28th from 4 pm concluding with prayers at 6 pm.

Doreen’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday January 29th at 11 am in the Cathedral of Christ the King followed by burial in Ballyglass Cemetery. The Mass may be viewed on the live webcam at the link below.
