Dr Aengus Murray

It is with great sadness we share the news of the unexpected death, following a road accident, of Aengus Murray, 67 years of age, of Santa Monica, CA. He died peacefully in Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center on 15 October 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He is buried at Oakwood Memorial Park, Chatsworth, Los Angeles. Devoted husband to Simin, loving dad of Brian, beloved son-in law of Siroos and Faye, brother-in-law to Soheil, and cherished brother to Marian, Anne, Conor, Deirdre, Brian and Fiona; his brother and sister’s partners Dave, Colum, Vee, Dermot, Judy and Kenny; Joan, Yvonne; his extended family, many colleagues, and wide circle of friends and neighbours.

Aengus was born in Dublin, Ireland on 16 September 1958. He was the fourth child of parents Eamonn Murray and Anne O’ Callaghan. He grew up in Clontarf, qualified as an Electrical Engineer at University College Dublin in 1981 with a first-class honour’s degree, at the top of his class, and went on to complete a PhD in the control of DC electric motors. He was a world expert in the field of electronic control of motors, holds over 10 patents, and had published at international conferences and journals. Aengus first started working for Inland Motors in Ennis Ireland, lectured in Dublin City University and then worked for many years at Analog Devices in Dublin, Boston and Tokyo and then for International Rectifier and Infineon Technologies in Los Angeles. Aengus was a wonderful husband, stepfather, brother, uncle, son in-law, brother in-law, and loyal friend. The one word everyone uses when describing Aengus is ‘he was gentle and kind’ just like his dad. We are all honoured and privileged to have shared his life.
