Dr Ellen Cody (Née Phelan) – Tullaniskey, Mullingar, Co Westmeath – died peacefully in her 99th year on 5th January 2026 in the tender loving care of the staff at Newbrook Nursing Home.

Dearly beloved wife of the late Dr Edward and much loved mother of Matthew, Mary and Jane.
Deeply regretted by their spouses Diana, Peter and Walter, her treasured grandchildren Roisín, Edward, Neil, Caitriona, Stephen and Louise and nine great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her sister Peggy; Ellen will be sadly missed by her brother Bill and his wife Cel, her sisters Breda and Hendy, cousins, nieces, nephews, her wonderful carers and dear friends.

Reposing at Gilsenan’s Funeral Home, Mullingar N91 K660 on Thursday 8th January from 9.30 am to 10.30 am followed by Funeral Mass in the Cathedral of Christ the King at 11 am.

Burial will take place afterwards to Cappagh Cemetery, Inistioge, Co Kilkenny arriving at approximately 2.30 pm.
