It is with deep sadness we announce the death of Esther McCarthy,Ballyvolane, Cork, who passed away on Sunday 15th February 2026, unexpectedly but peacefully surrounded by her family in the exceptional care of the staff at The Mercy University Hospital, Cork.

 

Esther (née Condon). Devoted wife and best friend of Seamus and loving mother of Diarmuid. Predeceased by her children Keith, Niamh, Seamus and baby Susan. Cherished sister of Joan and loving sister to the late Eileen, Carmel and John.

Sadly missed by her loving family, grandchildren Katie, Leah, Jessica, Jenna, nieces Megan, Caroline and her husband Paul, daughter-in-law Antoinette and Brandon, brother-in-law John, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and a large circle of friends.

Reposing at Keohane’s Funeral Home, Knights Hill, Old Youghal Road, Mayfield, on Tuesday 17th February 2026 from 5-6pm, with prayers at 5:45pm.
Requiem Mass on Wednesday 18th February 2026 at 11:15am in the Church of Our Lady Crowned, Mayfield, which will be live-streamed at the following link: Here. Followed by cremation at the Island Crematorium, Ringaskiddy.

Family flowers only, donations in Esther’s memory can be made to The Marymount University Hospice.

The family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and Hospital Staff for their kindness and exceptional care shown to Esther.
