Eugene Mc Cabe, Drumard, Clones, died peacefully in Cavan General Hospital, Thursday 27th August 2020.
He was born in Glasgow on 7th July 1930 to Irish parents with roots in Clones parish, Shercock and Corranny. His parents returned to Ireland at the outbreak of the Second World War and continue to be part of the community. Eugene was a playwright, storyteller and dramatist.
He is survived by his wife Margot, his daughter Ruth, sons Marcus, Patrick and Stephen, sister Margaret, son-in-law Colmán, daughters-in-law Kate, Lisa and Andrea, grandchildren Hannah, Leo, Thomas, Tireoin, Roisin, Caspar, Jordan, Caitlin, Faelin, Conal, Eabha, Odhran and Dara-Grace, great-grandson Zavier, extended family and many friends and neighbours.

Eugene will be resting at the family home tomorrow, Friday. Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Chapel, Clones, Saturday, 29th August, at 1pm, followed by cremation at Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan. Eugene’s funeral cortège will leave from the chapel on foot via Fermanagh St & The Diamond.
Due to the continued restrictions on public gatherings, Eugene’s Funeral Mass and cremation will be celebrated in the presence of his family and close friends. Anyone wishing to leave a message of condolence, may do so below.
