Eugene Shields

Eugene, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, the 3rd of December, 2025, in the wonderful care of the staff in Portiuncula University Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his father Tony, mother Mary and brother Kieran.

Eugene will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his devoted wife Lily, son Eoghan, daughter-in-law Sandra, beloved grandchildren Lorcan and Mark. Eugene will be sadly missed by his sisters Lil and Moira, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cherished nieces and nephews, extended family, neighbours and many friends.

May His Gentle Soul Rest In Peace.

Eugene will repose in Grenham's Funeral Home, Ballinasloe (H53 HK15), on Friday, the 5th of December, from 5pm to 7pm, with Removal afterwards to St. Michael’s Church, Ballinasloe (H53 CV05).

Eugene's Requiem Mass will take place on Saturday at 12 noon, with burial afterwards in Creagh Cemetery.

Eugene's family wish to thank all who cared for Eugene during his illness. A special word of thanks to the doctors, nurses, palliative team and all the staff in St. Francis Ward, Portiuncula.
