Fr Micheál Thornton

The death has occurred of Fr Micheál Thornton, Biloxi MS, USA and Cloughanover, Headford, Co. Galway, on the 26th July 2023. Predeceased by his parents William and Nora Thornton and grandniece Cairín.

Fr Micheál will be dearly missed by his siblings May Kenny, Frank, Padraic, Kathleen and Noel, brother-in-law Frank, sisters-in-law Evelyn, Catherine and Josephine, his many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends. Fr Micheál is also deeply regretted by Bishop Louis Kihneman, fellow priests and friends in the Diocese of Biloxi and the Diocese of Jackson, and a wide range of colleagues and friends in the United States, Mexico and Ireland.

Fr Micheál will repose at his sister Kathleen’s home (H91 W27e) on Saturday afternoon (August 5th) for family and friends. Reposing at Carey’s Funeral Home, Headford (H91 E6X9) on Sunday evening from 5pm to 7pm. Removal from Kathleen’s home on Monday morning to arrive at St. Mary’s Church, Headford (H91 C9W8) for requiem Mass at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in Cloughanover Cemetery. House Private on Monday morning please. Family flowers only by request.
