The death has occurred of Gareth ‘Chicken’ Hayes, Beechgrove, Belmont, Co. Offaly, and late of Tower View, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, on 14th March 2026, peacefully at home in the company of his loving wife and daughter, following a long illness fought with bravery, dignity and lots of good humour.

A dearly loved husband, father, son, brother and friend, Gareth will be dearly missed and forever remembered by his wife and best friend Carina, his adored daughter Sienna, his parents Marie and Noel, his brother Danny, mother-in-law Carmel, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, extended family, relatives, good neighbours, wonderful friends and former colleagues at Mergon, and not forgetting his faithful best friend, 'Teddy'.

Also remembering Gareth's late grandparents Mona and Mick Seery, Bridie and Jim Hayes and his father-in-law Paddy Guinan, and all deceased members of the Hayes and Guinan family.

Reposing at his home in Belmont (R42 F791) on Sunday from 4pm to 7pm. Leaving the family home on Monday 16th at 10.30am for Funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Church, Delvin Road, Mullingar (N91 KP29) at 12pm. The Mass may be viewed live via the link below.

The cremation service will follow at Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan, at 3pm and may be viewed live using the link below with the following password: Crem16M.
