George Miskimmins

George Miskimmins George beloved husband to Oonagh and father to Michele and Inge passed away peacefully on 10th April 2023 at Craigavon Hospital. Born in Dundonald 1st May 1934 to George and Matilda (Tilly). George spent most of his adolescence outside Bangor. George married Oonagh Claire Wilson, Loughgall, in Knock Methodist Church, Belfast on March 30th 1961. George spent most of his working life at the Irish Times retiring as a manager. Georges other notable activities included: 1956 Initiated in Mason Lodge Concord 462 Bangor; 1971 Chairman the Publicity Association, was a foundation member; 1974 Founder Director Craigavon Samaritan Branch and was very disappointed being unable to continue membership of the branch; Provincial Grand Lodge Armagh 1994 – 1998 Treasurer, 1998 – 2001 Assit. Grand Master, 2001 – 2009 Provincial Grand Master. He had reached the 31st degree in the higher degrees before he retired. George also played soccer for Cragavad, his local club and hockey for Bangor. Something George wanted everybody to think about. In the end only four things matter: How well you have lived, How well you have laughed, How well you have learned, How well you have loved. Donations in Lieu of flowers if desired to the Samaritans George’s funeral service will take place on Tuesday 18th April at 10.00am in Armagh 1st Presbytarian Church, followed by Cremation at Lakelands crematorium, Cavan at 1.30pm.
