Gretta (Margaret) Waldron, née Kidney, died peacefully in Wicklow Hospice on 13th April 2022. Gretta moved from the Kingdom to Dublin in the 60s to study nursing, leading to a 50-year career as a Registered General Nurse and many an All-Ireland final with conflicted loyalties. Predeceased by her beloved husband (a Dub) retired Garda Sgt. Desmond Waldron.
A fiercely proud and protective mother to four adoring and exasperating children Ronan, Kerry, Neil and Brian. Anyone who crossed her path was left with a strong impression of a woman ahead of her time with a laugh that could both cheer you up and give you a shock. Never lost for words, she passed on her indefatigable spirit and chat to her beloved grandchildren Jude, Senan, Milo, Harriett, Violet, Dahlia and Isabella.
Gretta will be sorely missed by all including her brother Des, sister Winnie, son-in-law Guy and daughters-in-law Mel, Teena and Flavia. From the USA to Australia with a pitstop in Italy, Gretta will be remembered and toasted across the globe by her friends and family for many years to come.
