Guy Hancock

Owner of The Decent Cigar Emporium on Grafton Street, Dublin and partner of The Clayton Cigars in Chicago, passed away at his home in Rathmichael on the 26th of May, 2021, aged 53 years.

In January 2020, Guy was diagnosed with a grade IV brain tumour. It was glioblastoma multiforme, the most aggressive type of cancer. He went through surgery, radiation, chemotherapy and spent 16 months fighting. However, this fight became more difficult as rapid tumour progression appeared.

Guy is survived by his wife Jessica, mother Tina, brother Mark, sister-in-law Anne and nieces Darcie and Leah.

In accordance with his wishes, a private cremation took place. At a later date, his ashes will be scattered during a celebration of his life. A private memorial was held in his hometown of Leamington Spa on 19th of June.

A special thank you to St. Mark’s Ward at the Hermitage Medical Clinic where Guy spent several weeks before his last weeks at home; the Home Instead care team who helped care for Guy at home, the Blackrock Hospice palliative care team, Shankill Pharmacy, and everyone else who showed him their gracious support.

In lieu of flowers, donations are welcomed in Guy’s memory towards glioblastoma research at giving.nm.org/guyhancock.
