The death has occurred of

Helen Falconer

Ross, Killala, Mayo

Helen Falconer, aged 66, of Ross, Killala and formerly of Buckfastleigh, Devon and London - the darling wife and best friend of Derek O’Flaherty and utterly wonderful mother to Jack, Molly, Imogen and Seán, and grandmother to Xian Xian - died peacefully in the presence of her family and the kind staff of Mayo Hospice after a very short illness.

A treasured mother-in-law to Gina, Damian and Hannah and loved deeply and dearly by the Quinn and O’Neill family and the rest of the Killala posse. Deeply loved by her extended family including (but not limited to) sisters Lucinda and Emma, brother Richard, nieces Charlotte, Isnaini, Rosie and Alice, and friend Sarah.

A phenomenon of a woman, a brilliant author and poet, a lover of her community (especially her neighbours in Ross) and a friend to many.

“I sing that I am a fat lady on a horse,
and this ride is far from over”
