Hephzibah’s biography
On June 21 2000 in Abuja Nigeria, Hepzhibah Tamuno Boma Fubara was born to loving parents Robert and Angela. From an early age, she radiated a unique 'cheekiness', warmth, and curiosity; qualities that would define her throughout her life. Hephzibah, being the oldest of five siblings, shared a deep connection with her family.
At the age of 4, Hephzibah moved to Ireland with her family. Even though Nigeria remained part of her identity, she welcomed the new land with outstretched arms. She attended Royal Family Academy in Nigeria and Sacred Heart of JesusNational School, Dublin, Ireland; places that nurtured her bright spirit. Hephzibah was brilliant. She excelled in her studies, was a dance aficionado, and loved to spend time with friends and siblings in the playgrounds. Hephzibah’s love for life was revealed in everything she did.
Her passion for the arts was particularly evident. Blessed with a melodic voice, she became a loved participant of her church choir and later, the choir at Loreto College Foxrock, where she attended secondary school. She amplified her love for music and dance alongside her academic studies in economics, Spanish, and physics. Her classmates and teachers cherished her for her selflessness, humility, and ability to make all feel seen and valued. Her height gave her a unique advantage in basketball, playing the sport with her well-known team-spirit and resilience. Her excellence in the sports paved the way for Micaiah and Jeremiah, her siblings, to also excel in basketball and hurling.
Travel was a constant source of enjoyment for Hephzibah. Her family’s adventures took them across the globe to places like Iceland, Dubai, Rio de Janeiro, Finland, Ghana, Turkey, the USA, and mainland Europe. Her parents were determined to let their kids, especially their first daughter, experience different hobbies, ideas, and cultures. Hephzibah’s fascination for different cultures flourished.
After the CAO results came out, Hephzibah's academic journey landed her in UCD. Her excitement for physics and technology spurred her to pursue computer science with the same determination she showed in everything. At UCD, Hephzibah was a bubbly member of the Africa society and a dedicated 'gym girl'. She always sought to harmonise her studies with her passion for community engagement and physical wellness. Not wanting to keep this mindset to herself, she always encouraged others to live their best lives through health and self-care. Her sister Athaliah is a testament to this.
When she moved to Bray in County Wicklow, she experienced many exciting feats. Firstly, Hephzibah pursued her passion for movement, expression, and identity, by becoming a professional dancer. As a dancer, she encouraged others to become confident and beautiful in their body and talents. She joined the Bray gym and could deadlift 150 kg - nearly twice her body weight, an impressive personal record indeed. She worked at the iconic sea-side facing Martello restaurant, which had a fast-paced and exciting environment. Just being a stone's throw away, her love for the ocean began to blossom. The beach and sea were a treasure to her. The rhythm of the waves was her peace, joy, and rest. It was a place where she could reset and renew her soul and connect with herself and the world around her. She enjoyed spending the holidays with family, celebrating birthdays, Christmas and new years day.
Hephzibah discovered healing and self-awareness throughprayer, meditation and journaling. In the pages of her journal, she revealed her thoughts on how she worked through life’s challenges. This practice was central to her journey of personal growth, faith and healing. Alongside writing, she found peace in watercolour art, similarly to her sister Yovela. She used it as a creative outlet to express her emotions and find calm. Both journaling and painting were her ways of processing life's ups and downs with grace and self-compassion. She found strength in her family.
On Monday October 7th, Hephzibah entered into her eternal home. She was found lying on her bed unresponsive yet peaceful.
We rejoice today. Hephzibah is not dead, but she is alive forever. Hephzibah is in the midst of the unconditional and expansive love and light of Christ, an experience so beautiful that no one would want to depart from.
Hephzibah is resilient. She is cheeky. She is loving. She is empathetic. She is curious. She is chosen. She is loved.
Hephzibah is an image of love. Love for her family, her friends, her passions, God, and herself.
Hephzibah means 'God delights in her'. No wonder she hasn't come back yet. God is absolutely delighted at her!
Hephzibah, we love you unconditionally, eternally. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to experience you, in all your fullness. Thank you for showing your flaws, talents, highs andlows. Thank you for the entirety of you.
We can't wait to see you again.
