James (Jim) Hayes

HAYES (Toronto, Killeigh, Rosscarbery and The Pike): on December 20th 2024, Jim passed peacefully in Toronto. Jim was the much loved father of Deirdre, Timmie and the late Michael. He will be missed by his daughter, son, son-in-law Glen, daughter-in-law Barb, sisters Jo (John) Shiels and Sheila (Larry) Murphy, much loved nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and godchildren. He loved his special relationship with the Hayes clan in Killeigh; Finbarr, Noreen, Daragh, Sean, Colm and Ronan. He got much enjoyment from his regular FaceTime communications with Sheila and Larry (incl. Alex and Rowan of course); Jo and John, Noreen Hayes, Anne O’Brien, Dinny Santry, Chris Hayes, Siobhan Sullivan, and Elaine Cadrette (USA). Over the years, he also appreciated the many emails and letters he received which enabled him to maintain his strong connection to his beloved West Cork.

Jim was pre-deceased by wife Doreen, son Michael, brothers Teddy and Johnny, and sisters Kitty, Mary, Nellie, Winnie, Peggy, and Nora.

He will be missed by his many friends in Toronto and West Cork, including in Bol Chumann.

Celebration of life will take place in Toronto and plans will be made to bring Jim and Doreen (the swallows) ‘home’ to West Cork for their final trip together, the summer of 2025.
