James (Jim) O'Connell

It is with deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Jim in his 94th year, on Sunday, 7th December 2025. Jim passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family and in the wonderful care of the staff of Gowran Abbey Nursing Home. Predeceased by his parents Patrick and Ellen, his brothers Thomas and John, his sisters May and Josie and his Uncle Jack.

Jim will be forever missed by his loving wife Nellie, his children, Helen (Phelan), Pat, Seán, Sheila (Aylward), Seamus, Niall, Sineád (Kavanagh) and Niamh (Lanigan), his brothers Walter and Pat (Wicklow), his sister Ellen (London), his sons-in-law Tom, John, Thomas and Derek and his daughters-in-law Breda, Lorraine and Valerie. Sadly missed by his cherished grandchildren, Pádraig and his wife Amy, Clodagh, Cíara, Darragh, Órlaith, Seán, Niamh, Dylan, Shane, Cian, Oisín, Ruairí, Zara, Erin, Aoibhe, Noah, Conor, Aoife, Isla and Elle, his brothers-in- law, his sisters-in-law, his nieces and nephews, extended family, neighbours and many friends.

He leaves behind a lifetime of love, kindness and wonderful memories.

Reposing in the Mercy Side Chapel, Church of the Assumption, Thomastown, R95YP97 from 4:30pm concluding with prayers at 7pm on Wednesday 10th December. Requiem Mass on Thursday in St. Kieran’s Church, Tullaherin. R95X970 at 12 noon followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
