On February 6th, 2026, peacefully at home in the presence of his loving family, James (JJ) formerly of Knockafurtig, Rockchapel, predeceased by his parents James and Mai, sisters Noreen and the recently deceased Patsy, brother Seán, brothers-in-law Michael Hannon and Flo Crowley, sisters-in-law Shelia (Murphy) and Carmel (Curtin), beloved husband of Jo (Hannon), dear father of Séamus, Maria (Kerr), Siobhán (Healy) and Jeremiah, and cherished grandfather of Eóin, Ella, Erin, Enid, Paddy, Hannah, Grace, Jane, Rose, James and Emma.
Sadly missed by his loving wife and family, sons-in-law Daniel Kerr and Fabian Healy, daughter-in-law Paula, sister Joan (Newman, USA), brothers Diarmuid and Padraig, brother-in-law Jim Newman (USA), sisters-in-law Winnie Curtin (Cavan), Mary Curtin (Doneraile), Mary O'Keeffe (Banteer) and Patsy Sheahan (Kilbrin), eighteen nephews and nieces and thirty five grandnieces and grandnephews, cousins, relatives, neighbors and friends.

Rosary on Saturday evening February 7th at 8:30 pm at his home. Reposing in Grace's Funeral Home, Kanturk (P51 WDX8) on Sunday, February 8th from 5pm followed by prayers at 7pm. Reception into St. John the Baptist Church, Kilbrin on Monday, February 9th for requiem mass at 12 noon which will be live streamed on the link below. Funeral afterwards to Rockchapel Cemetery. Donations, in lieu of flowers please to Marymount University Hospice which can be left on the link below.
