James P. Larkin

The death has occurred of Dr James P. Larkin (Jim) Beechgrove, Oranmore, Co Galway & formerly Drumroe, Castletroy, Co. Limerick

Jim Larkin of Beechgrove Oranmore passed away peacefully 12th December 2025, under the amazing care of the Acute care and Palliative teams St Vincent’s University Hospital, and previously Kilcoole Lodge nursing home.

Beloved husband of the late Joy (6-4-2000). Sadly missed by his children Tom, Helen & James. Grandchildren Ethan, Joe, Charlotte, Katie & Victor & dog Grace. Son-in-law Michael, daughters-in-law Gilda & Valerie-Anne, and a wide circle of friends.

An Experimental Physicist, former lecturer at UCG, gardening enthusiast, dog rescuer, & Vintage Ford car enthusiast, may he rest in peace.

Jim will repose at Tearmann Mhuire in the grounds of Oranmore church on Monday, 15th December from 8 pm till 9 pm. A service of remembrance & burial in Renville cemetery on Tuesday, 16th December at 1pm. Donations if desired, to Dementia & Alzheimer’s Ireland and Breast Cancer Ireland.
