JIM LANE

Lane, Jim (Earlwood Estate, Cork) on February 16th, 2026, at Cork University Hospital, just two weeks before his 88th birthday. Predeceased by his beloved wife Maura (née O’Connell) and their infant son John. Sadly missed by his brothers and sisters - Loretta, Noreen, Noel, Kathleen, Christy and Deirdre - and by his children Ciaran, Fintan, Roisin and Deirdre and their partners, and by his adored grandchildren, Caoilte, Colin, Muireann, Fraoch, Maisie, Iarlaith and Faela.

Reposing on Wednesday (18th) at the family home in Earlwood Estate from 6.00pm to 8.00pm. All welcome. Reposing also on Thursday (19th) from 5.00pm until 6.00pm at Fordes Funeral Home, South Gate Bridge. A service of remembrance will take place at Fordes Funeral Home at 11.30am on Friday morning (20th). Funeral afterwards to St Michael’s Cemetery, Blackrock.

Jim’s family will be forever grateful to his carers, friends and visitors over the past few years while he struggled with his illness. A special thanks to Brian Carroll, the fantastic women at the Ballyphehane Day Care Centre, the nurses and staff at CUH, who took care of him in his final days, and his lifelong comrade and friend Brendan O’Neill. Also, deepest gratitude to his medical consultant Pat Barry for his exceptional care and kindness over the years, which will never be forgotten.
